Just to let you know

Dearest Children - I talked with grandma this morning, and gramps is having a hard time getting over his infection. It's been a pretty stressful week, although the last two days he is doing better. Dad and I are going to focus our fast on him and wanted to invited you to do the same. I'm sure our united faith and prayers can only help.

As a side note, dad and I did corn this morning, (what LITTLE BIT the skunks and racoons didn't eat!) I know you are all feeling so bad to have missed out on all the fun. I'm sure it brings back such fond memories! We only got 13 bags, but at least it is done, cleaned up, and dad is chopping the stalks and hauling them to the barn right now. It's a good job done, but I must admit, I MISSED all of you. Hope you're having a great day. Love you all. - MOM

Hi Kim,
I hope Uncle Bert will do better soon. I check with Mom often, and we are fasting & praying for him as well. The poor guy has been through more than his share!
As far as the corn thin....Gee I sure can relate. The kids love eating it, but where are they when the hard work starts???

I don't really know how the young siblings will relate to your hard work mom. I'm not sure they ever got into it much. I hope someday my kids will get to weed an acre of corn every summer morning. Not to mention the tilling, manure hauling, hoeing, irrigating, and stalk chopping. I can already picture the replies to this comment but seriously, who are you girls kidding? I even came home from ASU to do corn on labor-day. Anyway, let the replies be heard!

Justin, you may have worked hard (which I am not disputing), but you have never weeded an acre in your life. Your memory is going, brother. We always had to come finish your row becuase you were so slow, and I'm sure Jason and Mom can corroborate. But that was nice of you to come home from ASU and help. I'm glad the coons didn't get all the corn. We have loved what we brought back with us. And we'll keep Gramps in our fasts and prayers. Love you Mom!

Justin, I am just going to say that you sound like a broken record. How many times can you honestly complain about that..........anyway, I'll definitely remember Gramps! Poor guy, I wish SOMETHING would work! Well anyway, enjoy the corn! Love you all!

Oh my goodness Justin, do you ever stop whining? I am pretty sure hell will freeze over the day I don't hear a complaint from you. Anyway, gramps is definitely in my prayers. Sorry to hear about you guys doing corn all by yourself...you know, we WERE home last weekend and could have helped, but I am glad you and dad opted for hike and picnic instead...it was way more relaxing ;)

Maybe I should clarify. I did say that I hope my kids will be able to have work experiences like that. I would rather do stuff like that than a lot of things, even walk the catwalk. Even to this day, if I am home and dad is doing anything outside without me then I feel like I am really missing out. I opted to shovel manure with him one night instead of going on a date. I didn't mean for it to sound like whining. My main point is that you girls, young girls in particular, think back to that one morning every September when we did corn and gasp at all the work, and that wasn't the half of it. I realize I was small and slow at Karchner's Garden, but I was in 3rd grade at the most, so congratulations Heather for weeding faster than a brother you have 4 years on. I still don't remember any of you girls being there for tilling, fertilizing, planting, irrigating, or stalk chopping. I say things like that to get under your skins. I do have a valid point, but that was not my purpose. Mission accomplished.

And Heidi, what was all of that before Heather's wedding when all you had to do was drive an hour and a half to pick up Hilary? Pot calling the kettle black if you ask me.
